2024 Supervision Skills for Spiritual Directors

This is a course for experienced spiritual directors to learn how to support and supervise others. The course will cover: definitions of supervision, preparation and contract, the tasks and skills required, the different areas of focus, models and stages of supervision, and creative supervision. Learning is both theoretical and practical. The course will be delivered via Zoom - full joining details will be sent to those who book.

The course runs from 11:00-16:00 each of the three days: 19 - 21 September 2024.

The fourth day of this course will be held on Saturday 8 March 2025. This allows attendees time to put into practice what we learn and discuss during the first three days and return to the group with reflections and experiences specific to the training.

Dr Antonia Lynn

Antonia is an experienced Spiritual Director and has been a tutor on both Encounter and the Ignatian Spirituality Course. She has facilitated supervision groups for LCSD for over 10 years as well as running a private practice and teaching supervision for many years.

Maria Manuela Silva

Maria was born in Lisbon, Portugal but has lived all her adult life in London and now Canterbury. Maria hopes to have gained knowledge and wisdom from having studied Theology and Human Geography and trained as a Spiritual Director as well as raising a family, working in a secondary school in Brixton and being involved in church ministry in some of the most diverse London boroughs. Currently Maria is Director of Encounter, the formation course in Spiritual Direction offered by LCSD. I also contribute to the Centre's Developing Direction programme and co-lead its Supervision training course.

Julia Sheffield

Julie is a retired NHS physiotherapist and healthcare chaplain, a grandmother, an inclusive Anglo catholic priest. Her spiritual direction practice is inspired by our three levels of vocation; to know ourselves as a children of God, to be disciples of Christ, and to accept God's invitation to ministry. As a devotee of St. Ignatius, I delight in finding, and helping you find, God in everyday life and to discern his call.
